WindLEDeRR was presented at Wind Energy Scientific Conference (WESC2023)

The WindLEDeRR coordinator, Dr. Abdollah Malekjafarian chaired a session on lifetime extension methods for wind turbines at Wind Energy Scientific Conference (WESC2023), which was held at University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland, on May 23-26 2023. In this session, Dr. Malekjafarian and three PhD researchers from WindLEDeRR presented their recent achievements around structural assessment of onshore and offshore wind turbines.

Ms. Mahdis Ashkar who is a PhD student at University College Dublin present his work on “A Real-time Damage Detection Framework for Life-extension of Onshore Wind Turbines”.

Dr. Malekjafarian presented his work on “A data-driven based approach using Naive Bayes Classification for scour detection around monopile-supported offshore wind turbines”.

Mr. James McAulif also presented his work under supervision of Dr. Breiffni Fitzgerald on “Modelling of Wind Turbines for Estimation of Fatigue and Remaining Lifetime”.

Finally, Mr. Ayaz Ahmad presented his work under supervision of Prof. Jamie Goggins and Dr. William Finnegan on “Application of computing tools to predict the parameters related to the fatigue performance of the wind turbine blades”.
